You can use a wedge stripper to put a deck down on the table while still "holding" a break. That's a hard question to answer, as it's simply another tool in the card box. You can't really lose a turned card, but more than that you can control a partial stack, meaning that a single deck can be set up for an entire routine. But the power to control cards through the deck as you casually shuffle it is immense. It's just a deck of cards, right? So never pull the object card directly out of the middle. I think the most important thing is to never draw attention to the deck. They're beautiful, versatile, and when cut well, almost undetectable barring very close examination and comparison with a normal deck. It is extremely difficult to pick up on the gimmick without actually using it. They are machine cut and come with a double-backed card. if you can get them, the "Factory Sealed" Bicycle stripper decks are very nice. ![]() Nonetheless, I also agree that the best use of a stripper deck is for effects you can only do with a stripper deck. If you are using it differently (perhaps more subtlely), they will never suspect it is a stripper deck. However, their knowledge of how it is used usually doesn't go beyond the pick a card then find a card type of tricks. I agree that some layman are aware of stripper decks. Try switching it in for an effect or two that you can only do with strippers and then changing it again. But, personally, I'd be reluctant to rely on it for a whole set. Of course they are!
